Caster oil packs have been used for many centuries originating in India. Castor oil is derived from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plants that grow wild in wastelands across tropical regions. Many of castor oil’s benefits come down to its chemical composition. It’s classified as a type of triglyceride fatty acid, and almost 90 percent of its fatty acid content is a specific and rare compound called ricinoleic acid.
Castor Oil Packs are most notably used as a gentle way to detox the body by placing a castor oil saturated piece of flannel placed over the abdomen with heat for about an hour.
I avoided the usual “food coma” and digestive discomfort again this year despite eating (over-eating actually) all of the traditional Thanksgiving Day favorites. I’m usually very picky about what I eat, and I rarely eat meat or “comfort foods” such as dressing, creamed corn, potato salad, candied sweet potatoes, etc….., because I know those foods are not the best for my body and don’t agree with me because I don’t easily digest them. But on Thanksgiving Day, I set aside my “cleaner” eating habits and indulge in all of my favorites, because I have two secret weapons - doTERRA’s DigestZen TerraZyme Digestive Enzyme Complex and doTERRA’s DigestZen Softgels.
